The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies is currently seeking a Legal Receptionist/Overflow Secretary to join its House Counsel team in Chicago, IL.

Position Responsibilities:
Legal receptionist will support an office of approximately 16 legal professionals in the following manner: switchboard duties including; answering and routing all incoming telephone calls, greeting visitors for deliveries, preparing conference rooms for scheduled depositions and client meetings, opening of all new cases in our legal database application and preparing physical files as well as generating opening letters to the client. In terms of the Overflow Legal Secretarial functions, responsibilities will include: working with attorneys to complete all assignments in a timely manner, preparing pleadings and documents for court filing, subpoenas, notices for deposition, notices of hearing and other pleadings in preparation for trial or early resolution of case, coordinating attorneys’ calendars with opposing counsel, claims and clients, preparing routine letters and documents, processing incoming mail, faxes and e-mail, entering all attorney billing, transcribing dictation containing pleadings, motions, and other correspondence as necessary, communicating and providing the claim staff with updates and legal documentation relative to the litigation process.

The candidate should have the ability to cover the firm switchboard while providing secretarial support for up to 2 attorneys.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
2-3 years experience in personal injury litigation process with insurance defense is preferred. [Experience with employment law would be helpful]. Excellent customer service acumen as well as a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is essential. Ability to navigate and effectively manage a case management system is required. Strong analytical skills as well as superior written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to work in a high volume office and team environment are essential. The candidate should be positive, energetic, and highly self motivated. The candidate should possess high initiative and have the ability to work independently. The ability to perform legal research is preferred. Candidate must be able to multi-task, adapt to changing priorities and possess the skills necessary to work under pressure.

Education and Experience:
• High school degree required
• Bachelors degree preferred but not required
• 1-3 years of legal secretarial experience
