Claims Examiner – Specialty Claims w/5+ years Exp (LA or San Ramon office)

Currently, Chubb is seeking a Claims Examiner – Specialty Claims for the Los Angeles, CA or Northern CA office in San Ramon.
Position Responsibilities:
• Handle Specialty claims across multiple lines of business and jurisdictions.
• Analyze and address coverage issues timely and accurately under multiple policies contracts.
• Conduct timely and effective investigations through effective use of internal and external resources that are in compliance with all Best Practices protocols.
• Effectively document all relevant events in a timely and efficient manner as case facts are developed.
• Timely and accurate indemnity and expense reserves are to be managed, and maintained throughout the life cycle of all files with appropriate documentation supporting any reserve changes.
• Based on effective investigative efforts, all resolution and negotiation strategies will be consider all appropriate third parties/collateral sources.
• Manage defense counsel through effective use of litigation management strategies, inclusive of developing a specific case agenda that directs accountability of counsel throughout the life cycle of all files.
• Proactively manage a claim inventory and effectively negotiate cases to a resolution that is in compliance of Specialty Best Practices.
• Present cases and regularly share casualty expertise through the claim committee process.
• Adhere to all statutory regulations and Unfair Claims Practices Acts.
Competencies required for position:
• Articulate in both written and oral communication.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver high caliber customer claim service.
• Advanced listening and negotiation skills.
• Advanced knowledge and attention to detail in insurance coverage and contracts, investigating mid level to severity claims, as well as setting timely and accurate reserves.
• Advanced in organizational skills to manage own claim inventory under limited supervision.
• The ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships with a wide spectrum of people internally and externally.
• Regularly shares expertise and provides constructive feedback in a team environment.
• Some travel may be required.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree is required; J.D. or CPCU Designation a plus.
• 5 - 10 years Casualty claims experience or equivalent insurance industry or legal experience is required, Specialty claims experience is desired.
