Senior Claims Representative
at DeWitt Stern Group in New York
Job Summary:
The world’s foremost independent risk advisors are busy, which is good news for insurance claims professional. We’re seeking a licensed Senior Claims Representative with 7-10+ years of Commercial Lines Real Estate brokerage claims experience. Candidates should be strategic thinkers who value honesty and possess a sense of urgency matched by integrity and an absolute commitment to client care.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
The duties of the Sr. Claims Representative include, but are not limited to:
• Receive information on losses from client, review and verify that coverage is in place, advise client of coverage opinion, file claim with appropriate carrier and acknowledge to insured verbally and in writing
• Keep ongoing Activity Logs and follow-up on claims as necessary
• Handle client’s questions or complaints and act as a mediator with the carrier, if necessary
• Attend and participate in client meetings, adjuster inspections and builder’s meetings when necessary
• Provide information for adjusters and other company personnel as requested
• Provide insured with interim and final settlement information
• Review lawsuits submitted by clients prior to filing with carriers
• Pursue programs for personal and professional development
• Develop new systems, forms, etc. as required
• Handle Account Executive inquiries and provide loss information and runs when necessary
• Perform other duties/projects as assigned by Claim Manager
Requirements and Qualifications:
• Valid P&C Brokers’ license a must
• 7-10+ years of hands-on claims handling experience, primarily commercial real estate accounts
• Must possess advanced knowledge of property & casualty coverage, in particular strong residential real estate property & casualty coverage
• Extensive knowledge of multi-line coverage and how coverage applies to different losses
• Sagitta agency management system knowledge
• College degree
• Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications, esp. Microsoft Office Suite
• Possess the ability to provide superior customer service
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional organization and time-management skills
• Be able to handle a fast-paced, challenging and demanding work environment
