Global Accounts Branch Underwriter – 5+ yrs Exp – Strong Casualty Needed

Currently, Chubb is seeking a Global Accounts Branch (GAB) Underwriter for the Whitehouse Station, NJ office.
Job Description:
The GAB Underwriter will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating renewal and new business accounts in accordance with established underwriting guidelines. This position includes accounts of all sizes with a focus on mid to large commercial lines business. Lines of business includes package, automobile, WC and umbrella across all customer groups for reverse flow business. Reverse flow business is the U.S. portion of an account controlled by a Chubb international branch. The GAB Underwriter will work closely with the overseas producing branch and the U.S. broker to coordinate all aspects of underwriting and account management to integrate the U.S. coverage into a worldwide insurance program. The Underwriter will be responsible for building relationships with brokers and international underwriters. The Underwriter will be responsible for negotiating price, developing prospects and account management. In addition this position entails managing profitability, retention, rate and growth. The Underwriter will be responsible for conducting renewal review for the territory assigned.
The individual must be able to work effectively and collaborate with a team of underwriters, underwriting associates, claims and loss control personnel. The position requires periodic travel domestically and internationally. It is expected that the underwriter will manage an $8-$9M book of business. The position affords high visibility with key HO LOB and customer group managers.
Competencies/Technical Skills:
• Minimum of 5 years underwriting U.S. package, automobile, worker’s compensation and umbrella
• Capable of handling complex accounts
• Demonstrate initiative
• Demonstrate strong time management skills
• Demonstrate ability to work independently while demonstrating strong collaboration skills in a team environment
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proven negotiation skills
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills
• Possess strong account management skills
• Demonstrate strong technical expertise and product specific knowledge
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Provide leadership and guidance to underwriters within the unit for area(s) of expertise
• Continue to develop technical skills through on-going training, collaboration with LOB and Customer Group Management
• Assess technical skill levels of team: suggest training as needed and conduct training as per agreement from Manager/Supervisor
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
