Financial Institutions Underwriter - Underwriting Experience Necessary

Currently, the Boston Region (New England) is seeking an Underwriter for the Region’s Financial Institutions Field Book. The position will be based in Boston. As an Underwriter in our Financial Institutions niche, you would have responsibility for a book of business that falls into the following industries: investment advisors, insurance companies, and community banks.
Position Responsibilities:
• Drive financial performance professional lines book of business including Errors and Omissions Coverage, Directors and Officer’s Liability Coverage, Financial Fidelity, Cybersecurity and Fiduciary Liability for Field Eligible Investment Advisors, Community Banks and Insurance Companies.
• Meet or exceed financial goals including profit, growth, rate, retention and new business
• Execute Chubb Specialty Insurance’s professional lines strategies and initiatives
• Develop and execute a business plan for the professional lines book of business including strategy for achieving premium budget targets, renewal retention goals, new business goals, expense budget targets and exemplary service standards
• Identify opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources
• Develop and execute a new business growth strategy including developing prospect initiatives for Field and Specialty Risk Center Business
• Execute successful market penetration and agency management strategies including building, maintaining and managing strong producer and customer relationships and continuous improvement of agency strategy
• Create and drive creative marketing and sales initiatives for professional lines
• Conduct account reviews and referrals, and provide underwriting authority within Chubb Specialty Insurance guidelines
• Collaborate with home office product management and the Specialty Risk Center
• Develop and negotiate price, coverage, and terms and conditions for new business and renewals and actively identifying account rounding opportunities
• Meet with producers, customers and prospects to make sales presentations including product education and new product roll out
• Collaborate with department practice leader, underwriting, operations, claims, marketing and home office product management
• Actively engage in market and share competitive intelligence and industry trending with unit
Required Skills:
• Solid knowledge of specialty commercial underwriting theories and practices with expertise in professional lines products
• Financial institutions underwriting preferred but not required
• Proven track record of strong technical underwriting, agency and customer management, and financial deliverables
• Ability to balance account referrals and employee development
• Demonstrated new business production and renewal retention results
• Strong analytical skills including financial analysis
• Demonstrated proficiency in sales, marketing and negotiation
• Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of internal and external business partners
• Experience developing and executing on marketing plans and prospects
• Aptitude to build strong relationships with remote product management team
• Sound, balanced, and timely decision-making skills
Education and Experiential Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Requisite complex business underwriting experience varies by level
