Full-time Test Specialist - 3+ years systems quality experience

Currently, Chubb is seeking a Senior Test Specialist for the Whitehouse Station, NJ office.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
The Test Specialist will assist in the preparation and conduct of Quality Assurance (QA) testing of new or modified applications/systems. They assure a high level of quality in business systems through preparation of test plans, test case material, execution of test cases, verification of test results and the resolution of problems found. They will participate in one or several phases of integration, system, regression or user acceptance testing. They will also participate in the development, analysis and continuous improvement of QA processes and procedures.

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct of daily test activities as assigned by QA test lead or manager.
• Compliance with established testing procedures, practices and methodologies.
• Test planning and prioritizing of assigned work.
• Execution of test cases during test phases for all or some of these phases – integration, systems/functional, regression and user acceptance
• Defect Management
• Implementation of recommendations/actions identified in sunset reviews, test summaries and customer feedback.
• Measurement and Analysis of process efficiency and product quality
• Participates in process improvement initiatives at functional and group level

Major duties and responsibilities: (some or all)
• Assists in the preparation and execution of test plans and test scripts.
• Prepares test materials needed for the test project, such as worksheets for test data input, creating automated test cases and assembling previously recorded cases into test scripts.
• Participates in formulation, refinement and distribution of test plans and matrices based on customer requirements and system specifications.
• Utilizes multiple software testing packages and other desktop products to prepare and conduct test activities.
• May assume primary responsibility for planning and executing automated test phases of system development.
• Executes test cases, test scripts and assists other team members involved in the input of test cases.
• Records and reports defects (problems) found during test execution.
• Receives corrections for reported problems, re-tests the transactions and formally signs off on the system corrections.
• Participates in the review of QA procedures and processes and the development of QA metrics for assessing the product quality and process efficiency.
• Consults with field and internal customers to ensure current, accurate and effective test procedures.
• Participates in projects and QA process reviews.
• Provides knowledge transfer/guidance to new or less experience Test Specialist.

• Utilizes established tools and methods to document and report findings
• Solves problems within the scope of project work assignments
• Utilizes established project plans as guide for organizing assigned work
• Organizes assigned work in accordance with established project schedules
• Completes all test activities within established timeframes and adjusts to changing deliveries
• Consistently observes unit test process and practice standards
• Actively contributes to unit quality and process improvement activities
• Assists others in resolving problems or issues
• Works with colleagues and supervisor to meet established target dates and deliverables under changing conditions


QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
• A minimum of two, typically three or more years experience in a systems quality environment, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Requires a broad knowledge experience with automated testing and modeling tools, and change management and test case generation techniques.
• Good analytical ability, judgment, consultative and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients and IT management and staff.
