Full-time Executive Risk Underwriter

Currently, Chubb is seeking a Professional Liability Underwriter for the Chicago Specialty Risk Center (SRC) team. The ideal underwriter will have experience handling D&O/EPL/FID products for large public or private companies.

Key Accountability
Responsible for profitable growth of assigned large, complex book of business. Underwrites new and renewal business within area of product, customer and/or industry expertise.

Major Job Functions
• Utilizes appropriate tools to underwrite large, complex new and renewal business within area of product, customer and/or industry expertise. Conducts in-depth risk analysis and develops optimal program structure.

• Maintains underwriting quality standards. Includes appropriate documentation relating to final underwriting decision.

• Serves as point person for managing assigned SRC key account relationships and expectations. Maintains high visibility through proactive key account communication and visitation.

• Develops and executes effective strategies to generate profitable SRC key account business growth. Collaborates with Branch and Chubb Specialty Insurance (CSI) management on new business and retention opportunities.

• Analyzes opportunities and creates business development strategy for assigned book of business. Prospects for large, complex new business within specialty area. Includes driving SRC account rounding, cross-selling and alliance opportunities.

• Supports and collaborates on Branch sales and marketing initiatives. Includes assisting with new product launches and local marketing campaigns, as appropriate.

• Supports and collaborates on Branch agency management activities including agency analysis and planning, education, and visitation. As part of the Branch agency planning process, conducts analysis of agency's SRC book of business and works with Branch CSI Manager to establish SRC new business goals.

• Collaborates with field in educating agents on products, services, automation, and underwriting standards as well as sales/marketing techniques. Participates in agent education events including CE courses and product fairs within area of underwriting expertise.

• For assigned SRC producers, manages SRC agency relationships and expectations. Leads/participates in SRC agency analysis and planning. Develops and executes on an effective agency strategy to grow the business.

• Informs manager of coverage and/or product opportunities/weaknesses impacting growth potential; gathers pertinent competitive information to assist in developing product development recommendations.

• Underwriting Acumen: Demonstrates deep technical knowledge of Chubb products, competitors, customers and market place within dedicated area of expertise. Exhibits rigor and expertise in underwriting large, complex accounts within specialty area.

• Account Management: Demonstrated ability to build strong SRC key account relationships and manage customer expectations under changing market conditions. Proven track record in promoting business retention and growth.

• Deal-Making and Negotiation: Proven ability to find creative solutions that strike appropriate balance between insured and producer needs while adhering to company/ CSI underwriting standards. Comfortable walking away from the deal, if necessary.

• Sales and Marketing: Knowledge of Chubb products, competitors, customers, and marketplace within dedicated area of expertise. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective growth and retention strategies. Proven prospecting skills and effective use of CSI sales and marketing tools.

• Agency Management: Ability to build strong agency relationships and manage expectations under changing market conditions. Record of results in promoting business retention and growth.

• Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with multiple SBU, Branch and Home Office stakeholders. Demonstrates effective consultation and partnering skills.

• Communications: Demonstrated ability to differentiate the Chubb proposal by effectively articulating (verbally and in writing) CSI strategy, appetite and capabilities.

Education
• 4 year college degree or equivalent work experience
