Currently, Chubb is seeking an experienced Underwriter for the Simsbury, CT office. An overview of job responsibilities and requisite skills are highlighted below.
Supports the achievement of established goals related to profit, growth, customer service and producer relations of the Underwriting Service Branch (USB). Handles renewals, endorsements, and referrals with an assigned book of business within a territory. This includes a significant amount of computer processing of broker correspondence, policy issuance, and endorsement changes, as well as maintaining a diary system. Agents/brokers are the Underwriter's direct customer. The Underwriter communicates directly with the agent/broker rather than the insured. Additional customers are the branches generating the new business for the USB. Underwriter builds customer relationships based on analysis of appropriate information within delegated authority and underwriting strategies, including seeking opportunities for cross-selling and rounding out of accounts. Utilizes automated systems for underwriting analysis, analyzing results, communication and maintaining awareness of claim activity. Job provides long-term opportunity to become an expert in a particular product or underwriting skill for the department.
Candidate should have insurance underwriting experience with strong financial analysis orientation. Proven skills in the areas of time management, multi-tasking and prioritizing are critical for this position. Proactive teamwork and collaboration with the ability to balance between team and individual goals are required. Must have a strong track record in negotiating and relationship management. Looking for strong analytical skills with the demonstrated ability to make expedient and sound decisions, as well as taking initiative and following through. Other requirements include strong computer and verbal/written communication skills.
